Horus Heresy: The Latest Releases from the Last 6 Months

Horus heresy

Gosh, has it been that long since our last Horus Heresy post? The 26th of April was apparently the last one that I did! What has happened since then? Let’s look at the latest releases from the previous 6 months! I have definitely been doing stuff since then! I have written other posts, but looking for houses has taken up most of my time.

Introduction

So, I will skim through the Horus Heresy releases we’ve had since then and, hopefully, get this blog up to date. I hope I can write some blog posts or record YouTube videos on those miniatures in some form or another!

Horus Heresy Releases

What is that? A PLASTIC Cerastus knight??

Cerastus Knight Lancer

Why yes, it is! It turns out two more will be following a few months later! That’s not so great for my wallet but also great if I was already planning on buying one. I prefer the Cerastus chassis, but it being all Forge World had put me off so far, from a financial position at least. The price is around £102 from Element Games using my Affiliate-link, so I suspect I will buy one sooner or later!

The Siege of Cthonia

So we had the Siege of Cthonia commanders appear: Vheren Ashurhaddon & Lord-castellan Evander Garrius.
I must say, as much as I’m not too fond of Sons of Horus, I find myself getting more and more tempted to at least paint a small squad of them. Is it an excuse to get the mini of Vheren? I think it might be. Their green armour is really growing on me… did you see the tutorial I did on painting Sons of Horus?

Vheren Ashurhaddon

My brother kindly bought me Garrius as a birthday present for me a few months later. I absolutely love this miniature. I can’t wait until I get him painted! In case you don’t know, I love a sweet cloak!

Super Heavy

Then we had a good chunk of the remaining Horus Heresy super-heavy tanks come back to Forge World, having had their sponsons adapted to be used with the new plastic ones! This is fantastic as it will allow loadout changes easily. To list them: the mighty Mastodon, the Glaive, the Falchion, the Fellblade, the Aquitors and the Javelin! I imagine they’ll remain in resin for the foreseeable future

Librarian Consul

Next up was the librarian consul. As an Imperial Fist army owner, should I get one? I still haven’t decided.

Imperial Fists: Decurion Sagittar

I decided on the next one, though, the Imperial Fists: Decurion Sagittar. Look at the extra gun! One of these will definitely be going on a Sicaran Punisher! I might even get a couple more of them, one for each flank of the Armoured Spearhead list I am working on.

Loyalist Champion

Then came the Loyalist champion! A poor man’s Sigismund, maybe? Who knows, but it’s a great-looking mini, even if there is no cape! Who knows, painting a hero without a cape might be good?

The Return of a Classic

Then we had the return of a classic, the Arvus Lighter. With a carrying capacity of 22, who wouldn’t want one? It might not be the mightiest of units, but it can get some fight-capable units where they want to be!

Exemplary Battles of the Age of Darkness

Along comes Exemplary Battles of the Age of Darkness, which has rules for the new Fulgrim Transfigured! It also has an entirely new mission and tarted up four old missions for the latest edition!

2 more Cerastus Knights!

Sometime after this, there was news of the Cerastus Castigator and the Acheron rendered in delicious plastic. The Archeron tickles the part of me that loves the idea of flamer weapons! In the future, I imagine I shall definitely be getting one… and hopefully not three, as is the way. The Cerastus Atrapos will be staying with Forge World, by the looks of things! Who knows, maybe, in the future, it will be released in plastic.

Predatory Praetor

The Space Wolves unleashed a rather snazzy praetor, complete with a cape and frost axe! What more could you want?!?! I really liked the helmet on this particular miniature, and speaking of helmets, they also released some slightly more normal MK6 helmets for the Space Wolves!

Traitor champion consul

A new Traitor Consul was getting ready to be deployed (although the release date was pushed back into November). The armour is some chunky fancy MK3 armour, with extra armour plates left, right and centre! He’s a chunky-looking old miniature reminiscent of the Axe Guy from the Age of Darkness set.

Newly Forged

Finally, we have a few things coming at the same time!

New Mark 3 armour. Mk3 armour is being released in a larger size, more in keeping with the Mk6 armour. This new version of the Mk3 armour means that we can now use the heavy and special-weapon sets. The helmets appear to be a bone of contention for some people, and Death Guard players are probably enjoying them. They do have quite the “Death Guard look” to them! What do you think about the new helmet design going on here?

A plastic Deredeo. Yes, you read that correctly! The old motorboat is arriving in glorious plastic! Resin has been purged; long live the plastic!

New plastic Deredeo dreadnought

These were available in a sort-of launch box set called the Legiones Astartes Battle Group that I purchased from Element Games! It was a limited run, but they didn’t make you wait several months to release the Deredeo separately. You can order both the Deredeo AND the Mark 3 marines separately!

Horus Heresy Releases Conclusion

To conclude, it’s been an eventful few months, with a fair few releases for the Horus Heresy. We’ve had new resin miniatures released, some resin kits re-tooled to fit plastic sponsons, some were changed from resin to plastic and some older plastic kits released in a slightly larger format!

I have included three affiliate links to Element Games ( Cerastus Lancer, Deredo & Mk3 marines) and using those links helps to support the channel and costs you nothing!
